Busy as ever…

The eventing season may have finished but for WOW’s eventing ambassadors, the off season does not mean lazing about! Francis Whittington took a short break before heading off to the USA to do some teaching clinics. Kitty KIng went horse shopping in Ireland (we are awaiting news of that exciting mission) and on her return, went to Cheltenham races to promote Team GBR at the Countryside Day. Pau Tapner demonstrated at Your Horse Live and signed lots of autographs and then headed off to Newmarket for the Retraining of Racehorses Awards where he was a prize winner – see our blog post on this nest week! What a busy team they are.

Season’s Greetings from all at First Thought Equine

We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the whole team at First Thought Equine. Thank you to our customers for their loyal support over 2012, and we hope 2013 is happy, healthy and prosperous for all.

A WOW is not just for Christmas…

WOW was developed after listening to riders and investing time to scientifically test different types of saddles to see how they perform on different horses. This is where the name came from, when our guinea pigs rode in the saddle they said just one word, WOW!

WOW is also totally new way of owning a saddle. For the first time one can buy a traditional looking saddle and by buying different components, alter all of its’ characteristics to suit different horses, riders and disciplines. WOW is the worlds first modular saddle meaning that it is a long term investment for your horse.

The seat, panels and flaps of the saddle are all available separately, so you can easily change component parts. When they are combined they make a saddle whose performance for the horse and the rider is unbeatable!

Did you know that a WOW saddle provides you with…

  • A laterally flexible tree that allows for greater shoulder movement;
  • A wide variety of fittings and styles to suit even the most hard-to-fit horse, plus modular styles available;
  • Flair air bag flocking, which avoids pressure points that can be caused by ill fitting wool flocking, and also provides an even bearing surface; (other flocking types also available if preferred);
  • The Pointless Panel System, that provides a wide bearing surface without no pressure points.

Perhaps 2013 will be the year that you say WOW?

Our September Saddle Cloth Winner…

This is Susan Rore and her lovely Appaloosa, Lindertis Doubletake (Indi to her friends)!

Susan says,

“I’ve had Indi since she was 5 months old (she’s just turned 6) and am completely and utterly smitten by her and appaloosas in general. She is just the easiest, nicest horse I’ve ever known!!

Indi lives with our other two horses at home on the north east coast of Scotland and we hack, school, have done a few dressage tests and some showing with success!  We’ve just started jumping (Indi being much better at it than me!!).  We live close to the beach, which Indi loves.

Indi has worn her WOW dressage saddle pretty much since she was backed. She’s had a couple of refits/headplate changes as she has grown and matured. I wouldn’t consider riding her in anything but a WOW as her comfort is my top priority! It’s perfect that I find it so comfy and so secure too!

Thank you WOW.”

Our July Winner…

Congratulations to Brooke and her owner Kirsten. They have won this month’s competition and a WOW Saddle Cloth will be on its way to them!

We are so happy to hear of Brooke’s improvement after Kirsten found her in the back of a farmer’s shed…

Kirsten says “Brooke will only be ridden in a WOW Saddle as she won’t settle in any other after being diagnosed with a back problem. The vet diagnosis was that she had a 50/50 chance of ever being ridden again – and now we are back competing after a long haul. I wouldn’t part with my WOW or her!

When I think I bought her from a dealer after finding her in the back of a farmer’s sheep shed four years ago all skin and bone and what we have been through with her back – to where we are now, it’s truly amazing.

I am so proud of her. I even took on a second job through the summer to afford extra training and her trainer said to me just the other day that she is now starting to produce some stunning work and she feels amazing.

I recently had Brooke’s passport checked with the Sports Horse Society and found out that her great great grandfather was indeed none other than the “Dutch Courage”. I couldn’t believe it!

I couldn’t have done it though without a great vet, Amazing Saddlery and WOW Saddles, you should be very proud of what you have achieved with these saddles and the team that support you.”

Kirsten was so happy when we told her she had won. “Oh my goodness, thank you so so much!  Brooke deserves this so much! She will get an extra hug tonight, thank you yet again so much.”

We were so pleased to hear of Brooke’s amazing transformation. If you have a story about your horse that you would like to share then please email us – we would love to hear from you.

The winner of our June competition is….

Congratulations to Beth Parker and her lovely horse.

Beth says “I absolutely love my Wow saddle :)) it’s the only one my horse will allow on his back…”

She goes on to say “My horse is a 6 year old P.R.E, he transformed once he had this saddle on his back (I bought it in late December 2011)…he now has a completely different movement, lots of shoulder action, he has come on leaps and bounds since I bought this – it allows such freedom of movement through the front that he has really muscled up in this area. I love it. Now everyone thinks he’s a warmblood when they see him out places – he has the same sort of big paces.”
